Project REVISE

Rethinking the Effective, Visionary, and Innovative Study of Education

Project REVISE (Rethinking the Effective, Visionary, and Innovative Study of Education) recruits and prepares diverse educators and provides students equitable access to educational resources and opportunities.

In consultation and collaboration with Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) personnel, FIU faculty will provide a revised curriculum to prepare paraprofessionals and pre-service teachers to teach the racially, culturally, and linguistically diverse students served through M-DCPS. Project REVISE supports evidenced-based curricular changes aligned with FIU's Improvement Plan developed as part of the Florida Department of Education's (FLDOE) Teacher Preparation Inspection (TPI) in 2020.

Guided by that improvement plan, Project REVISE includes five working groups comprised of FIU Faculty, University Supervisors (US), Field Mentors (FM), and Cooperating Teachers (CT) and other M-DCPS representatives, focused on the improvement of the following areas:

  • Content Knowledge and Teaching Methods
  • Clinical Placement, Feedback, and Candidate Performance
  • Program Performance Management
  • Recruitment and Retention
  • Professional Development
