Joint Alabama-Florida Conference on Differential Equations, Dynamical Systems and Applications

The fourth JAF DEDS conference highlights topics partial differential equations including dynamics of nonlinear waves in dispersive and dissipative systems, long-term behavior of evolution equations, reaction-diffusion equations, pattern formation, and applied spectral theory.

  • Location: Florida International University, MMC campus
  • Cost: There is no fee to register.

Graduate Workshop (Pre-conference)

Junior mathematicians interested in the topics of the conference are encouraged to apply. 

  • Dates: May 15-17, 2026
  • Registration Deadline: April 20, 2026 or until filled
  • Registration Fee: $55 (reimbursable) 
  • Lodging: at the University Towers Complex on MMC (included with registration fee)

Mini-course Lecturers

Conference Day Resources

  • Day 1 begins at 8:00 AM and goes to 6:00 PM with an evening poster session.
  • Day 2 begins at 8:00 AM and goes to 6:00 PM.  
  • Conference events will be held GL (green library), SASC (Student Academic Success Center), GC (Graham center), MARC (Managment and Research Center) and DM buildings, exact schedule TBD. 
  • There will be a poster session is tentatively planned in ASTRO 101 after the conference talks on Monday the 18th. 

Directions and Accommodations

  • If flying, either Miami International Airport (MIA) and Fort Lauderdale Airport (FLL) are recommended with MIA being preferred.
  • The conference is held at the Modesto A. Maidique Campus (MMC).
  • Accessibility information can be found through FIU's accessibility program.
  • Please park in the Blue or Gold garages. Students will be staying at University Towers (UT) starting 5/15.
