Two merit scholarships are available each year to BS in Geosciences students in honor of the late Dr. Gautam Sen, former chair of the Geology Department.
This $500 award is presented to an undergraduate student in the Geosciences degree program who has achieved the highest grade in the GLY 4300 petrology course (minimum 85%). There is no application for this award. Recipients are contacted after final grades are posted by the university registrar in late April or early May.
In the event of a tie, one recipient will be selected randomly.
Dr. Gautam Sen Award for Excellence in Geology
This $500 award is presented annually to the graduating BS in Geosciences student with the highest GPA at graduation (minimum 3.0). There is no application for this award. Recipients are contacted once final grades are known. The award is given after Fall or Spring exams, alternating years.
In the event of a tie, one recipient will be selected randomly.
