Internship and Practicum Opportunities

All students enrolled in the BS in Physical Education: Sports and Fitness program will complete the program with a capstone internship. The program offers a wide variety of experiences based on the many careers available within the field.

Students must complete all program required coursework before being eligible for internship during their final undergraduate semester. Students will attend one mandatory internship meeting to learn all about student placement at internship sites. 

Internship opportunities include:

  • Strength and conditioning
  • Sport performance and exercise science
  • Group and individual fitness
  • Physical education and youth sports
  • Research
  • Athletic training
  • Physical therapy
  • Occupational therapy

Mental Performance Opportunities

Any enrolled student who has taken an introductory sport psychology course, sport ethics course, and counseling skills courses may request to begin supervised hours towards Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) status. All required courses are offered in our Kinesiology and Exercise Science Masters and PhD programsSupervised students will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of teams, athletes, performers and exercisers of all skill levels and ages.
