XII. Philosophy Advising
While there is a professional advisor assigned to philosophy majors through the PantherSoft Student Records System, the director of undergraduate studies, a philosophy faculty member, is the primary academic advisor for philosophy majors. It is a good idea for the student to meet with the director in their first semester as a major to make certain that the student understands the requirements and that their records are in order — i.e., that all transfer credit, test scores, and so forth are properly recorded. The director can help students decide upon courses, explain requirements, and generally assist students in having a fulfilling major or minor experience.
