Field Experiences

Below are the requirements and procedures for securing and completing field placements in Miami-Dade and Broward County Schools.

  • Field Placement Policies

    All students must:

    • Obtain fingerprinting and security clearance through the appropriate school district before beginning field experience hours.
    • Contact the school administrator at your assigned field school to coordinate your start date.
    • Participate in all school visits as arranged with your Master Teacher.
    • Maintain professional behavior and dress appropriately at all field sites.
    • Keep a record of your school visits using the FIU Field Experience Attendance Log
  • How to Obtain a School Placement

    To secure a placement, visit the Office of Clinical Experiences (ZEB 130) with the following:

    • Your valid security clearance card (Miami-Dade County) or badge (Broward County).
    • A printed copy of your current FIU class schedule.

Important Note:

All placements must be coordinated through the Office of Clinical Experiences. Students may not arrange placements independently.
