The Subtropic Symposium for Upcoming Mathematicians is an event that brings together mathematics students, graduate and undergraduate alike, to present their research and engage in discussions with their peers. It is an opportunity for students to showcase their work, learn from their peers, and network with others in the mathematical community. This symposium was formed to give individuals in southern Florida a chance to present at a local university, one that is not an expensive flight and hotel visit away.
We are also proud to announce that the conference is free. We understand, as students, that conference costs can be a barrier to attending and if we were to charge to attend, it would be hypocritical.
The Subtropic Symposium for Upcoming Mathematicians is also open to any field in mathematics. Abstract Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics... all math research is welcomed! We find great value in both giving presentations to and learning from your peers. Having a varied background in mathematics is a fantastic tool as a mathematician and we hope that this symposium helps the attendees see their own research in a new light.
This event is sponsored by SGA's GPSC and RSO. All students, staff, and faculty are welcome to attend.
