College to Career
Students entering the major with less than 90 credit hours take a Cornerstone course, IDS 3073: Understanding Your Liberal Studies Major. The Cornerstone enables students to make the most of the interdisciplinary opportunities and flexibility an Interdisciplinary Studies major provides. Before graduating, all Interdisciplinary Studies students take IDS 4890: Interdisciplinary Studies Capstone, which allows them to reflect and build on the interests, experiences, skills and strengths they develop during their time at FIU. Students then connect this knowledge with available academic and career opportunities.
Current students have the option of exploring their career interests by pursuing educational internships for academic credit. If you have identified an educational internship and would like to apply for academic credit through Liberal Studies, please contact Liberal Studies Director, Vanessa Sohan, to learn more about the application process.
