FIU Food Insecurity Project
This project was created by Blaire Kleiman (PhD Candidate), Dante Parker (MSc student), Érika Rocha Guimarães (MSc), and Thais Escobar Sanabria (PhD Student) for Dr. Simone Athayde's Interdisciplinary Methods course (FIU Steven J. Green School of International & Public Affairs) in Spring 2022. The project aimed to address student food insecurity by mapping edible fruit trees on the Modesto Maidique Campus (MMC) of Florida International University. Through research and collaboration, we identified key areas for planting fruit trees and developed a foraging almanac and pamphlets to guide students in accessing and utilizing these resources.
