Admissions

All application materials should be submitted to the Office of Graduate Admissions via the online Graduate Application. Use the graduate admission checklist to get started.

  • Deadlines
    Fall: December 1st Priority Deadline. Applications accepted through February 15th
  • Requirements
    • GPA: 3.25 GPA in all graduate work attempted and 3.0 GPA in upper level undergraduate credits (UG60)
    • Applicant Statement / Letter of Intent: Required
    • Records and documents:
      • A completed online application for Graduate Admission with appropriate fees; 
      • Official transcripts of all higher education institutions attended; 
      • Three letters of reference attesting to the applicant's ability to succeed in doctoral study; 
      • A current resume/vitae;
      • A statement that sets forth the applicant's research interests and career goals and relates these goals to the completion of the PhD Program in Higher Education; 
      • A writing sample illustrating research skills (such as a thesis, journal article, paper submitted for academic credit; etc.). We recommend a writing sample of at least ten pages. 
    • Additional Requirements: 
      • International graduate student applicants whose native language is not English are required to submit a score for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). A total score of 80 on the iBT TOEFL or 6.5 overall on the IELTS is required. 
      • An interview with the Doctoral Admissions Committee.
