Our Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Systems provides an interdisciplinary background in GIS - computer hardware and software used to organize, manipulate and analyze maps and spatial data. GIS is a rapidly developing technology that can be applied to many areas of the natural and social sciences. Many of our faculty experts are engaged in GIS research.
There is an increasing demand for GIS specialists in the job market as a result of advancements in information technology, and the development of spatial/geographic database management programs. Fields using GIS include architecture, engineering, earth and environmental sciences, economics, sociology, political science, public health and urban planning.
