Curriculum Vitae

Website

Dr. Yuying Zhang is a quantitative biologist in the field of Fisheries Population Dynamics. She joined FIU in Fall 2011, and started to work on the stock assessments and fisheries managements of species in the Gulf of Mexico, South Atlantic and Caribbean regions. Dr. Zhang explored all possible research directions to find her best niche in the Biological Sciences Department. Her research projects cover multiple areas: 1) Develop more realistic assessment models with uncertainty included; 2) management strategy evaluation including simulation models; 3) stock identification; 4) species distribution models; 5) standardize data collection and data processing for fisheries assessment; and 6) ecosystem modeling. Dr. Zhang has been active in applying external research grants, publishing her works in peer-review journals, and presenting in international and regional conferences.

Research Areas

Dr. Zhang's Fisheries and Ecosystem Assessment Lab (www.fiufeal.com) has been continually expanding since its establishment. The lab has provided a platform for young scientists to develop innovative projects in multiple disciplines.
