Diana graduated with BA in liberal studies with a branch in humanities in the year 2018. She graduated with her MS in Early Childhood Education in spring 2021. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, watching films and playing video games.

Bethany R.

Bethany has been a graduate consultant at the CEW since May 2023. She is a current PhD Candidate in the Developmental Science program here at FIU. She enjoys working collaboratively with students to refine their writing. In her free time, she enjoys reading rom-coms, taking long walks (not on the beach), and traveling.

Elayne B.

Elayne graduated with a B.A. in English and a certificate in Professional and Public writing, and has been a tutor at the CEW since 2013. She is fluent in both Spanish and English, and hopes to publish a novel one day. Upon receiving her bachelor’s degree, Elayne wanted to become a magazine editor, but life took a surprising turn. Besides helping students at CEW, she was a former middle school English teacher for 5 years but is now working as a Case Manager. In her spare time, she loves to travel, explore different restaurants and dance the night away.

Cynthia J.

Cynthia has been an undergraduate writing tutor and writing assistant at the Center for Excellence in Writing since January 2024. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor‘s degree in English as well as a certificate in Global Media Communication. When not in school, she can be found sketching, baking and/or reading novels.

Manny D.

Manny is a graduate writing tutor and coordinator at the Center for Excellence in Writing. He worked at the center as an undergrad tutor from 2011-2012, and subsequently as a graduate tutor from 2017 to the present. He holds a BA and MA in English Literature from FIU and his focus was on Southern Gothic fiction, particularly the works of William Faulkner. He has had the pleasure of working on independent filmmaking projects in Miami, including short and feature-length films. He enjoys writing, history, photography, and playing the guitar.

Emma B.

Emma B. is an undergraduate writing tutor currently studying English and Political Science. Her post-graduate plans are to attend law school to study Intellectual Property and Entertainment Law. Outside of class, Emma is a DJ at FIU's student radio station, The Roar.

Ezra is a 2024 graduate of FIU, with a Bachelors of English with a focus in writing and rhetoric. Ezra plans to attend graduate school in the fall of 2025 for creative writing. On their off time they love to pet their two cats, play video games, and listen to Taylor Swift.

Nicole L.

Nicole has her B.A. in English, having specialized under the Writing and Rhetoric track. She also has a certificate in Chinese Studies and Asian Globalization and Latin American Studies. Nicole is fluent in both English and Spanish, along with speaking conversational Mandarin Chinese. She loves to travel and enjoys living like a local in the places she visits. She always looks forward to helping students strengthen and enhance their writing skills.

Felipe has been an undergraduate consultant since January 2024. He is currently studying for a BA in English Writing and Rhetoric, including a Minor in Business. Felipe leverages his skills in editing and technical communication to support his endeavors in academic literature. During his downtime, Felipe partakes in avid reading, writing fiction and historical nonfiction, and tabletop roleplaying games.
