Minimum requirements for admittance to the Master of Science in Physics program include:
- Bachelor’s degree in physics with a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0
- Students from non-English-speaking countries are required to demonstrate proficiency in English. A total score of 80 on the iBT TOEFL or 6.5 overall on the IELTS is required
In addition, transcripts from all previous academic institutions and letters of reference from at least two professors who can attest to your ability to complete a graduate degree in physics must be submitted. You must also submit a statement of interest. TOEFL scores must be submitted through ETS to the graduate admissions office. Transcripts and reference letters should be uploaded through the admission's website or be sent to the graduate admissions office. Do not send material to the Graduate Program Director or Physics Department directly.
The application must be completed online through the graduate admissions office website. There is a $30 application fee. The official deadline for all applicants is February 15 for fall admission; note that not all materials need to be received by the due date, but an application must be started to be considered. We begin screening applications in mid-January, so please get your application started before mid-January. We do not have spring or summer admissions.
Assistantships are not provided for master's students.
