WORKSHOP II: Building a Teaching Career in Earth Science

This workshop will introduce students to a career as an Earth/Space science teacher. You will participate in hands-on learning experiences designed to build an understanding of science concepts and skills for teaching science in ways that support active inquiry and conceptual understanding.

Have you ever thought about working with children with special learning needs but wasn’t sure what that would be like? Let’s take a look from a student perspective. Join us for simulated activities that will put you in the shoes of a student with special learning needs!

WORKSHOP IV: When No Place is Home: Culture, Identity and Othering

The session will explore cross cultural communication and the immigrant experience. Students will explore the concept of 'home' by participating in a critical thinking interactive activity that highlights how language and communication influence our identities.

This interactive talk will present some of the most pressing social issues faced in STEM education and how those interested in teaching K-12 STEM can make a difference.
