Asia Eaton, Ph.D., is a feminist social psychologist and associate professor of psychology at FIU, where she directs the Power, Women, and Relationships Lab. Eaton's research looks at the prevalence, risk factors and consequences of sexual cyber abuse, including nonconsensual pornography, sexual extortion, recorded sexual assault, cyberstalking and cyber dating violence. Her most recent study looks at the relationship between sextortion during COVID-19 and pre-pandemic intimate partner violence. Since 2016, Eaton has served as Head of Research for the Cyber Civil Rights Initiative, working to understand and end the emerging epidemic of nonconsensual porn in the United States. In 2018, Eaton visited Facebook headquarters to present her research and find solutions to help victims of online dating abuse, cyber harassment and nonconsensual pornography.
