Associate Provost and Professor

Suzanna Rose, PhD, is founding Associate Provost for the Office to Advance Women, Equity & Diversity and Professor of Psychology and Women's and Gender Studies.

Rose is the lead investigator for FIU's NSF ADVANCE Institutional Transformation grant, which is aimed at improving the recruitment, promotion and retention of women and underrepresented minority faculty at FIU.

A key research project associated with the grant includes the development of an evidence-based Bystander Leadership Program to reduce gender and race bias in faculty hiring, promotion and retention.

FIU ADVANCE is supported by a five-year $3.2 million Institutional Transformation grant awarded in 2016 by the National Science Foundation for FIU to develop innovative organizational change strategies to produce comprehensive change within an academic institution across all STEM disciplines. FIU ADVANCE is aimed specifically at developing strategies to increase the number of women and minority professors in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), and the social and behavioral sciences (SBS) at the university.
