The program culminating in the Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education prepares graduates to serve in academic and administrative positions, as faculty, or as policy analysts in federal, state or institutional roles. The program aims to stimulate educational research, especially in urban settings.
The doctoral program in Higher Education Administration requires the completion of at least 78 credit hours of coursework. Additionally, students who have completed the majority of their non-dissertation coursework must take the candidacy examination. Lastly, the students must successfully complete, defend and receive university approval for their dissertation.
