Our integrative four-year curriculum emphasizes the study of living systems while providing students the tools to critically evaluate biological concepts. Our graduates are prepared to excel in any biological science professional or graduate program.

How to Apply

  • Requirements

The QBIC program is a rigorous program that exposes students to the most contemporary techniques in pedagogy and science education. The aim of the program is to produce students who are more quantitative, integrative, and are able to contextualize the science they learn within everyday reality. The program thus raises the bar on the expectations of the students and they, in return, must meet those expectations both to enter and remain in the program.

We encourage everyone to apply to QBIC who has excelled in math and sciences and has a genuine interest in pursuing further education in Biological Sciences. We accept a wide range of students with different abilities and interests with a commonality of strong marks in their high school math and science classes. A foundation in algebra and pre-calculus are expected but not required. If you have questions, please reach out to qbic@fiu.edu.

  • Application Form

Fill out and submit the QBIC Application Form.

QBIC Open House

We hold several open houses each spring on the Modesto A. Maidique Campus, usually on days when high school students do not have classes.

Please contact us at qbic@fiu.edu for information on open houses. You can also schedule a campus tour.

Summer Session

Incoming QBIC freshmen attend the free six-week QBIC Bound Summer Session for an introduction to postsecondary science instruction. The Summer Session allows new students to make an educated decision about committing to the QBIC program.

The session runs four days a week from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is taught by QBIC faculty and staff. Mornings are spent in general biology lecture, lab, Peer Led Team Learning or Journal Club, and afternoons are spent reviewing pre-calculus and calculus.

Contact us at qbic@fiu.edu for the QBIC Bound Summer Session schedule.
