Mara Zapata’s work has focused on curriculum and instruction - specifically, science teaching and learning and the professional development of teachers through reflective practice and their engagement with inquiry-based methodology. At the university level she has taught Methods of Teaching Science at both the undergraduate and graduate level and has served as co-principal investigator of the NSF-funded REALM - Really Exploring and Learning Meteorology program, involving middle school science teachers and students.
