Dr. Alson Time is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Conservation and Sustainable Horticulture Lab at FIU. He previously worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Institute for Sustainability, Energy, and Environment at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where his research focused on crop ecophysiology in agrivoltaic systems. His work centers on plant physiology and plant–environment interactions; photosynthesis, stomatal regulation, canopy carbon flux, and microclimate effects on crop performance; with the goal of advancing sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture. Originally from Haiti, Alson holds a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering from the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and a master’s degree and Ph.D. in Agricultural Sciences from the University of Chile. He has received multiple awards, including the CONICYT Doctoral Scholarship from the Government of Chile and the Student Honor and Merit Award at UASD, given to the highest-scoring student of the year. His research has been published in journals including PNAS, Cell Reports Physical Science, Journal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, Scientific Reports, Plants, People, Planet, and the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry. Alson is multilingual, speaking Haitian Creole, French, Spanish, and English.
