Md Rajeun Islam is a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Earth and Environment at Florida International University and a member of the Critical Zone Geophysics Lab. Dr. Islam earned his Ph.D. from Florida Atlantic University, where he used near-surface geophysical methods to investigate peatland structure, subsurface gas accumulation, and methane dynamics across boreal, subtropical, and tropical wetlands. Dr. Islam's research integrates ground-penetrating radar, hydrological and environmental monitoring, laboratory experiments, and field observations to examine carbon cycling and physical changes in peat soils. At FIU, his work focuses on wetland and peatland processes, including peat stability, ecosystem change, and the use of geophysical approaches for environmental monitoring. Dr. Islam completed his BS in Geology and MS in Petroleum Geology from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.
