Dr. Owenz is a board certified, licensed counseling psychologist who teaches primarily in the Professional Counseling Psychology Master's program. She has been a university instructor for the past ten years, focused on inclusive and meaningful teaching that can improve the well-being of her students. Her research and teaching emphasizes eradicating ableism in higher education and counseling. She has recently completed projects on alternative assessments for students with disabilities, utilizing AI as a tool for learning for students with disabilities, focus groups to better understand barriers for students with disabilities in higher education, and promoting sensory inclusive spaces on college campuses.  Clinically, she has experience and expertise in eating disorder treatment, anxiety, mindfulness-based therapies, DBT, and disability-affirming therapies.
