Dr. Ana M. Luszczynska is the Dean of the School of the Environment, Arts and Society (SEAS) in the College of Arts, Sciences and Education at Florida International University (FIU). She joined FIU as an Assistant Professor of English in 2004 and served as the Graduate Program Director (2016-2019) and Department Chair (2019-2021) before becoming Dean of SEAS. During her time as a faculty member in the department of English, Dr. Luszczynska received the Butler Waugh Scholar Award, Worlds Ahead Faculty Award, Faculty Research Award, and Presidential Leadership Award.
As Dean of SEAS, Dr. Luszczynska is particularly focused on supporting student and faculty success as well as teaching and research excellence at every level. In keeping with her scholarly interests, she is also deeply committed to the development and fostering of University and community partnerships.
Education
Dr. Luszczynska received her PhD in Comparative Literature from SUNY Buffalo in 2003 with a focus on Latinx and African-American Literatures and 20th century continental philosophy, with particular emphasis on themes of community in Phenomenology and Deconstruction. Her monograph The Ethics of Community was published by Bloomsbury Press and she has presented her scholarship at both national and international conferences.
