B. M. Golam Kibria
Dr. B. M. Golam Kibria is a Professor and Graduate Director (Statistics) in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Florida International University (FIU). He has also taught at The University of British Columbia & University of Western Ontario, Canada and Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. Dr. Kibria has diverse research interests, including Applied Statistics; Biostatistics; Computational Statistics; Environmental Statistics; Distribution Theory; Models fittings and validation; Pre-test and Shrinkage Estimation; Ridge Regression; Statistical Inference and Simulation Study. Since 1993, he has published or had accepted for publication over 280 full research articles in well-reputed statistical journals, many statistical proceedings and co-authored two books. Dr. Kibria has served as the major or co-major professor of two PhD and 24 master's students and as the major professor of 28 undergraduate students at FIU. He has also served over 85 PhD, M. Phil, and MSc thesis committees at FIU and abroad in countries such as Australia, Canada, India, Pakistan, South Africa, and Sweden. He is the recipient of several awards, including Certificate of Excellence in Reviewing Awards-2018, 2022, College of Arts, Science and Education Research Awards (2016 2019, 2021 and 2023), College of Arts, Science and Education Community Engagement Award (2021), FIU Top Scholar Award (2016, 2024), FIU Faculty Award for Excellence in Research & Creative Activities (2021), Canadian Commonwealth Scholarship at UWO (1993) and at Carleton (1991), UWO Graduate Research Fellowship (1997) at UWO and, Chancellor Award (1986), Government Talent Pool Scholarship (1986) and Asadul Kabir Gold Medal (1986) from Jahangirnagar University among others. Dr. Kibria has served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Probability and Statistical Science for about five years and is currently a member of editorial board of many international statistical and related journals, including Communications-in-Statistics Parts A, B and C.
Dr. Kibria is an elected Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Jönköping University, Jönköping, Sweden on October 8, 2022. He has been listed for four years in a row (October 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023) in the World's Top 2% Scientists ranking, according to the ranking database compiled by Stanford University, USA.
