Research Interests
Dr. Hur’s research lies at the intersection of sport management, economics, and finance, with a particular focus on the economic and social impacts of sport mega-events, digital consumer behavior in sport (including esports), and public finance and budgeting in collegiate athletics. He employs advanced econometric modeling, big data analytics, artificial intelligence, and geographic information system (GIS) methods to examine issues related to the economic and social impacts of sport, monetary valuation, online education in sport management, performance prediction, and sport injuries. His work has been published in leading journals such as European Sport Management Quarterly, Sociology of Sport Journal, Applied Economics, International Journal of Sports Marketing and Sponsorship, Managing Sport and Leisure, among others. His research has earned international recognition, including being named one of three finalists for the ESMQ New Researcher Award by the European Association for Sport Management (EASM) and receiving multiple research grants from organizations such as the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM). Dr. Hur currently serves as Managing Editor of the Journal of Global Sport Management and as an editorial board member for Sport, Business and Management: An International Journal.
