After receiving her PhD at Florida International University (FIU), Dr. Yan Ding is working as a researcher with CREST CAChE and the Institute of Environment at FIU. Her research interests include: molecular characterization and dynamic study of natural organic matter, focusing on pyrogenic-derived organic carbon (i.e., black carbon); petroleum chemistry and characterization of unknown oil degradation products (bio-/photo-degradation) and their toxicities; nutrients and long-term water quality monitoring; and applications of state-of-the-art analytical instruments such as ultrahigh resolution mass spectrometry (FT-ICR-MS), ultrahigh performance liquid chromatography (UPLC), multi-dimensional gas chromatography (GCxGC-MS).
