Wonmin Choi

Dr. Choi received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Northwestern University in 2021 under the supervision of Prof. Nathan Gianneschi, where he developed stimuli-responsive biomaterials and peptide brush polymers for therapeutic delivery. He completed his postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School and Boston Children’s Hospital with Prof. Daniel Kohane, focusing on advanced hydrogel- and nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems for pain management, including prolonged local anesthetics and light-triggered opioid delivery systems. Prior to his Ph.D., Dr. Choi earned his M.S. in Chemistry from Seoul National University under the guidance of Prof. Yan Lee, where he studied biomimetic polymers and stimuli-responsive small molecules for controlled drug delivery. He joined the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at FIU in 2025. His research integrates polymer chemistry, peptide chemistry, and molecular design to create smart and functional materials for biomedical, environmental, and sensing applications.
