Dr. Hulya Avci is a Postdoctoral Associate at the STEM Transformation Institute. She earned her PhD in Educational Psychology with a specialization in Learning Design and Technology from Texas A&M University in August 2024. Her dissertation investigated the digital competencies of in-service K-12 teachers in U.S. schools, focusing on the various ecological factors that influence their mastery of pedagogical digital competence. She has presented her research at international conferences, including the American Educational Research Association (AERA) and the International Society of the Learning Sciences (ISLS). In her current role at FIU, she works on the STEP UP physics project, funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). This project aims to inspire young women to pursue physics-related careers by fostering a diversified and inclusive environment. Her research interests include teacher education and preparation, the integration of technology in educational practices, and diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM education.
