What are the benefits?
The Office of Pre-Health Advising (OPHA) created this process to streamline the letter of recommendation submission to your schools & provides a straightforward overview of your candidacy.
- We have designed our requirements to:
- help you reflect on your motivation
- develop your story
- and be prepared & confident during your application cycle
Typically, 85% of students who qualify for a committee interview are accepted into their professional programs.
A Committee Letter Packet includes a cover letter from your committee's evaluation of you, including a ranking compared to all other students applying through the process, and the individual letters of recommendation you have collected.
* Review the recommendation letter requirements of the professional programs to which you are applying, as they may have unique requirements. It is still the student’s responsibility to confirm they are meeting all program requirements.
An Advisor Letter Packet also includes a cover letter from a pre-health advisor and the individual letters of recommendation you have collected. However, unlike a Committee Letter, an Advisor Letter does not include a ranking.
* Review the recommendation letter requirements of the professional programs to which you are applying, as they may have unique requirements. It is still the student’s responsibility to confirm they are meeting all program requirements.
Reapplicants are students who have already submitted a complete application and would like to send another application in a new cycle.
- If you have already applied with the Committee or Advisor letter process, and plan to re-apply to your professional school, you will need to notify our office directly.
Multiple letters each written by, and representing, a single letter author. These letters are held by our office and submitted as one file to the application.
- If you do not meet one or more of the minimum requirements for committee but believe you have a strong application, you can petition to receive the Committee Letter.
- You must meet the minimum requirements for an Advisor Letter Packet to be eligible to petition for a Committee Letter Packet.
- We do not accept petitions for the Advisor Letter Packet.
