BS in Physics

Our Bachelor of Science in Physics prepares students for careers as professional physicists in industry, government, or graduate study in physics, engineering or material science. It also prepares students for teaching careers. Students interested in teacher certification should contact the School of Education and Human Development.

Students may work with our faculty in their research labs. Some students present the results of their research at national conferences and publish them in journals.

Concentrations

Engineering

This concentration is designed for motivated students who have dual interests in physics and engineering.

Students successfully completing this degree program will have satisfied the standard undergraduate requirements for admission to graduate programs in physics and engineering.

Health Physics

This concentration is designed for those students who have interests in nuclear physics and the practical application of nuclear physics to modern society.

Students successfully completing this degree program will have satisfied the standard undergraduate requirements for admission to graduate programs in physics, medical physics and health physics.

Physics Education - FIUteach

This program prepares students interested in physics graduate school as well as certification to teach physics at the secondary level.

Students are encouraged to contact the FIUteach program for opportunities to try out teaching at no cost. Interested students can also contact the department or the secondary science advisor for additional details and certification requirements.
