Award-winning authors
In a career spanning 25 years, Dennis Lehane (MFA '01) has published 13 novels. Five of his mystery and crime thrillers have been adapted into major motion pictures. His work has made him an award-winning novelist and screenwriter.
Business Owners
Yesenia Roque and Jacqueline Lee came together to start a boutique copywriting firm called Write & Day, a play on their polar opposite personalities. It wasn't planned, but they ended up with their first job two months before graduation.
Inspiring the future
Prisca Dorcas uses her platform to honor and unveil the complexities of what it means to be a latina. She created Latina Rebels, a multi-platform account, the combines humor, latinx culture and activism. She uses that, written work and in-person conversations to share her stories and inspire others.
Paying it forward
Jose A. Haber (Tony) had an idea in his poetry class that led to Loco por Ti and Crazy Love wines. Now he sells his wine in multiple locations including where it was born, the Modesto Maidique Campus. He inspires young entrepreneurs and gives back through sponsorship at multiple FIU events.
