We all begin life as children, and grow and thrive via our own version of family. At FIU, children and families are paramount to happy and healthy lives for all. Our psychologists, psychiatrists, linguists, public health experts, and educators provide the highest quality care with research support through counseling, our renowned Summer Treatment Program, and numerous interactions.
Affordable, Accessible Care
All families should have access to effective, evidence-based treatment they can afford. Our multidisciplinary Center for Children and Families (CCF) serves as a one-stop facility to address the specific needs of children with behavioral and learning difficulties. We provide support and training for parents and practitioners to give everyone working on the frontlines the best tools to ensure a happier, healthier future for all.
Mapping the Brain
Our Center for Imaging Science is working to better understand how the brain works by tracking the neural mechanisms connected to brain development, adaptation, learning and disease response. From diagnosing and treating illness to understanding how students learn and solve problems we are developing effective methods to address a range of cognitive processes.
Imagine a world where medicine is as unique as the patient. Diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s treated with drugs tailored to your body’s individual blueprint. Our researchers are working across disciplines to bring us one step closer to groundbreaking discoveries that will help millions while training the next generations of innovators to continue this important work.
