Dr. Amorim received her Ph.D. in English from the University of Florida in 2015.  She specializes in first-year writing and technical and professional communication, and she has been teaching courses in those areas since 2006.  She regularly teaches ENC 1101, ENC 1102, ENC 3213, and ENC 3249.

Teaching Philosophy

“Critical thinking, project-based learning, and collaboration are key facets of any course I teach. My ultimate goal is for students to understand the inherently social nature of writing, and for students to see themselves as agents and writers, capable of solving real problems through writing.”

Research Areas

Dr. Amorim serves on the First-Year Curriculum Committee, the Professional and Technical Writing Committee, the Professional Development Committee, and the Online Teaching Committee.  Dr. Amorim also serves as a Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) consultant and the Interdisciplinary Writing Teaching Assistant (IWTA) Coordinator.
